What is it?
It is a diabetic medication that has been FDA approved for weight loss. Studies are showing an average of ›15% body weight loss. It works great for both jump starting weight loss and supports chronic weight management and is also great for getting rid of those pesky last few pounds hanging around.
How is it given?
Semaglutide is a once weekly injection that you give to yourself at home. It is given with an insulin needle so it is a very small poke and very little discomfort if any.
It is given into your stomach subcutaneously meaning into the fatty tissue. This will be shown to you during your consultation so you feel confident in this process!
What are the side effects?
Side effects vary between patients and may include Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, upset stomach, heart burn, tiredness, or dizziness.
Side effects typically lessen or subside as you continue the medication. Patients have reported that, if these occur, it’s usually with the first injection then lessen or are gone with continued injections.
Dosage can be adjusted with provider to ease symptoms and instructions will be given at consultation for remedies that may help.
Who can take it?
Semaglutide is for MOST everyone!
However, there are a few things to consider.
It cannot be taken during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
Semaglutide cannot be used for patients with Type 1 diabetes, low blood sugar, multiple endocrine neoplasia syndrome type 2, have a family or personal history of medullary or other thyroid cancers.
Caution should be taken if patients have a history of kidney dysfunction, gallbladder problems, or pancreatitis as it may increase the risk of these problems.
What is the process?
You will be scheduled for a consultation which is preferably in person but may be done via telehealth. At this consultation we will discuss your medical history, answer any questions, and get a current weight and vital signs.
You will also be given thorough instructions regarding medication and injecting as well as management.
What are the expected results?
On average patients lose between 10-25 lbs with the first vial of medication. The vial itself typically lasts 3-5 months depending on dosage. Patients may do multiple vials / rounds of Semaglutide for continued weight loss as well.

When can I start?
If you are a good candidate and choose to do the program, your prescription will be sent to the compounding pharmacy after your appointment.
The Semaglutide will be sent from the compounding pharmacy to your home and is shipped with overnight delivery on standard business days so you can start right away.
